The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Tournament

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament has been making waves in the world of poker since 2004. In a very short span, the event has already seen a lot of happenings based on its various exciting and adventure-filled games. This tournament promises to give participants one hell of an adventure which they will definitely remember as long as they live.

The 2004 Caribbean poker event was held aboard the very beautiful and captivating cruise ship called the Voyager of the Seas of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. This was indeed a major innovation in the world of poker as participants enjoy the luxury of having a cruise with the fun and excitement brought about by international poker tournaments. What more can a player ask for? It was an ultimate display of poker talent, skills, and strategies.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament once operates under the World Poker Tour. The inaugural tournament was won by Gus Hansen, who edged out Hoyt Corkins at the final round. He was able to take home the grand pot amounting to $455,780. Among the other poker greats that Hansen defeated at the final table are John D'Agostino, Michael Benedetto, Daniel Negreanu and Remco Schrijvers. But it was Hansen's classic style of play that captured the attention of the world with a lopsided victory of Corkins.

In 2005, this special PokerStars event saw John Gale dominating his opponents in a fast-paced non-stop action between the best poker players in the world. He defeated Alex Balandrin in the final round to take home the grand pot which already amounts to $890,600. At the final table, Gale easily trampled opponents such as Nenad Medic, John Cernuto, Patrick Hocking and Michael Westerlund.

The 2006 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament was a much better event than the past as the prizes become much higher and more players have been lining-up to partake in this highly regarded tournament. The fun and excitement never stopped as Steve Paul-Ambrose defeated Brook Lyter in the final round. Because of that victory, Paul-Ambrose took home a grand total winnings amounting to $1,363,100. The other players who completed the final table are Aurangzeb Sheikh, Anders Henriksson, Michael Higgins, and David Singer.

Meanwhile, the 2007 Caribbean Adventure proved to be a success as Ryan Daut brought the lights out of Isaac Haxton in the final round of the tournament. He took home the grand pot amounting to a whopping $1,535,255. In the process of reaching victory, he defeated the likes of Frank Rusnak, Jonathan Little, Robert Mizrachi and Robert Ford at the final table. Despite its success, the rights of the World Poker Tour to feature this tournament were transferred to the European Poker Tour in 2008.
