The EPT Dublin Tournament of the European Poker Tour

The european poker Tour has another excellent qualifier for its EPT Grand Final in the form of the EPT Dublin poker tournament. For years, it has been showcasing the best contenders as well as the top poker players from Europe in particular. Although these events are not exclusive for European players alone, it has succeeded in putting the spotlight on them.

The EPT Dublin is hosted annually by the Merrion Casino Club at the Royal Dublin Society in Ireland. It features an excellent mix of young and old international poker superstars who are always ready to slug it out for the glory to be called champions of poker. Expect more to come from this wonderful poker tournament as it has racked up four successful seasons in the past few years.

Ram Vaswani of England was the first champion of this Dublin tournament in the very first season of the European Poker Tour. He did this by defeating Rory Liffey of Ireland in the final round of the event. All in all, his winnings amounted to a total of 80,000 Euros. Among the other great professional poker players that Vaswani was able to beat at the final table are John Coughlan and Jamie Drummond of Ireland, Sean Donaldson and Alan Vinson of England, Xuyen Pham of South Vietnam, and Julian Thew also of England.

Meanwhile, it was Matt Gavatin of Sweden who emerged on top of the same tournament the following season by defeating fellow countryman Henrik Olander in the final round. Gavatin took home the grand pot valued at 317,000 Euros. Among the international cast that he was able to outlast in the final table are Michael O'Sullivan and Jim Reid of Ireland, Michael Greco of Scotland, Peter Haslam and David Pomroy of England, and Joe Rafferty also of Ireland.

During the third season of the European Poker Tour, it was Roland de Wolfe of the United Kingdom who rose to the occasion and captured the grand pot of the EPT Dublin poker tournament. He was able to defeat David Tavernier of France at the final round. The total pot for that event was valued at 554,300 Euros. Among the other international poker greats who were able to reach the final table include Nick Slade and Robert Yong of the United Kingdom, Patrick Bueno of France, George McKeever of Ireland, William Thorson of Sweden, and Gavin Simms also of the United Kingdom.

The fourth season of the tour was a different story as Reuben Peters of the U.S. defeated a group of excellent European poker players at the final table. Among those he outlasted are Thierry van den Berg and Daan Ruiter of the Netherlands, Michael Durrer of Germany, Anders Pettersson of Sweden, Trond Eidsvig of Norway, Reijo Manninen of Finland and runner up Annette Obrestad of Norway. The grand pot was 532,620 Euros.
