The EPT Baden Classic Tournament of the European Poker Tour
The EPT Baden Classic tournament is another qualifying event for the much awaited EPT Grand Final at the end of every european poker Tour season. Many great international poker players attend this event to have a crack at the poker championship. Throughout the years, this poker tournament has served a lot of players reach this goal.
The EPT Baden Classic started its operations in the second season of the European Poker Tour. Since then, this event has been held annually and has produced a very fast pace non-stop poker action. The event is conducted every year at the elegant Casino Baden in Austria.
In the second season of the tour, the inaugural EPT Baden Classic was won by Patrik Antonius of Finland. At the end of the final round, he was able to beat the hand of Gunnar Ostebrod of Norway to be able to claim the grand pot amounting to 288,180 Euros. The international players who made it to the final table include Edgar Skjervold and Torstein Iversen of Norway, Peter Muhlbek of Austria, Ingemar Backman of Sweden, Christian Grundtvig of Denmark, and Abel Meijberg of the Netherlands.
During the third season of the tour, this Austrian tournament was dominated by Thang Duc Nguyen of Germany. The event was very exciting as always and the outcome seems to be very unpredictable until Thang Duc Nguyen defeated Ben C. Johnson of the U.S. in the final round. He was able to take home a grand total of 487,397 Euros in winnings. Among the other international players that he was able to outlast at the final table are Peter Eichhardt and Jonas Molander of Sweden, Rodion Cherednichenko of Russia, Sasa Biorac of Germany, Daniel Dodet of Belgium and Dario Minieri of Italy.
Meanwhile in the fourth and latest season, the EPT Baden Classic saw a great cast of international players making their way to the final table. They include Denes Kalo of Hungary, Anton Allemann of Switzerland, Ted Lawson and Thomas Fuller of the U.S., Manfred Hammer of Germany, Julian Thew of England, Thierry van den Berg of the Netherlands, and Vladimir Poleshchuk of Russia. The event was very exciting and unpredictable until Thew defeated Kalo in the final round. Thew took home the grand pot which is valued at 670,800 Euros.
This Austrian tournament has three successful seasons so far. Expect more fruitful years to come from this extravagant poker tournament.
